GNG: Gouging New Georgians
Can I get a round of hate hate hate for Georgia Natural Gas?
In addition to charging me two arms, a leg and a small chicken to heat my lil Cabbagetown home, (posts below), these dudes have the nerve to charge me a whopping TEN DOLLAR late fee for mailing in my checks a little behind schedule.
Now, I send in checks late all the time (absent-minded, don’t you know) and I’ve never seen a fee this big before.
So how can they get away with this?
In the words of CL staff writer Michael Wall, who covers transportation, energy & environment stuff and knows the answers to a lot of wonky questions like this …
“Hate freely. The PSC done gave them authority to charge that much.
But did you know you can switch marketers for free?
And, did you know the PSC lists online which marketers are cheaper and shows the extra costs they charge on top of gas?
Here it is!
Also, here’s a scorecard of which company gets the most complaints.”

Geez, and I thought I hated Florida City Gas, but compared to your bill, they’re practically giving it away. And I must admit that after Wilma left me powerless for three weeks, taking warm showers — albeit sometimes by flashlight — was worth every penny.

Oh yeah, no one is disputing that I like the warm showers and mi gas stove. But to pay so much for it??
